The Apprentice Update

So guess what Trump did last Thursday? He fired the wrong person for stupid reasons. The more and more I watch the show, the more I find myself wondering why in the hell he's even doing the show. Honestly, he's not recruiting talent, because he's firing it all early, while leaving the sliders who don't step up to the plate there to subterfuse the teams and provide for conflict. That's great for a reality show. That's awful for a business.

I don't understand how Stacy R managed to last through as many boardrooms as she did. She annoyed me from the moment she first opened her mouth. Granted, he was right to fire Jennifer C when he did, but he could (and SHOULD) have fired Maria first. She's a high-maintenance witch who's used to getting everything she wants and barely working for it, and in no way fit to be in any leadership role. In fact, without her money, she'd be working in some office sucking up to the execs trying to get into their pants. Not for sex, but for their wallets. Elizabeth should have been fired too, but honestly, she should have been fired because she was incompetent as a leader, not because her team lost.

So, this week, Trump fired Raj. Granted, Raj made some damn stupid errors. I think for the first time, he felt some pressure, and had difficulty coping with it, and that's why he failed. Personally, I think Trump kicked him out because he did not understand real estate and Trump's a real estate man. When it comes down to it, he got shafted by his teammate who suggested a bad contractor. He got shafted by the contractor who promised a ton of shit and couldn't make it happen, leaving everything looking like pure crap, and he got shafted because the other team got lucky, happened to have additional contractors drive by, got more help, and got more work done. In two days, you don't have time to make that happen on your own. Period. They got lucky, Raj didn't. Raj is a talented man and a charismatic leader. If Trump was looking for a man to lead his company, Raj was it. Mistakes happen. We're all human, and Raj is not a moron. He would have learned quickly from those mistakes and excelled. Trump can't see past the first failure, because in his mind, you get one shot to prove yourself, and after that, you're nothing. It's arrogant, and it's foolish.

Trump parades himself around as a great judge of character, and in fact he is not. It took him how long to fire Stacy R? Maria's still around leeching credit for work she can't do. Yvonna is a great worker but lacks any real leadership qualities. Sandy's no different, although she's worse because she's used to people bending over backwards to please her because she's hot. Bradford did not deserve to be fired for his team's incompetence, and he left second! Trump's given Andy how many tries now and glanced over how many screw ups? Sure, he's young, but you don't get those kind of breaks in the real world according to Trump when he fired John and Raj, both infinitely more capable men.

So, of course, I'm still hooked, but now, for a different reason. I want to see the stupid things Trump does to ruin his own business. I'm curious to see which boot-licker while follow in Bill Rancic's not-so-large and not-so-great footsteps. Kelly and Jen M are probably the best qualified people left. Jen will be fired because she's a woman at some point, and Kelly will be fired because he has talent, and only time will tell who wins the jackpot.
